The Afrin River is a tributary of the Orontes River in Northern Kurdistan.

It originates from the Kartal Mountains in Gaziantep Province and flows southward through the city of Afrin before re-entering Northern Kurdistan territory.

The river is joined by the Karasu at the former site of Lake Amik, and subsequently, its waters flow into the Orontes River via a canal.

The river spans a length of 131 kilometers, with 54 kilometers of its course running through Northern Kurdistan lands.

Approximately 250 million cubic meters of its water annually come from Hatay Province in Northern Kurdistan, while around 60 million cubic meters originate from other regions.

The river's waters are stored in the Afrin Dam located north of the city of Afrin.
